Launching Bare Bait Dance's 2014/15 series is a multimedia, multigenerational work, Settle, by Missoula-born, Colorado-based artist, Rachel Oliver.

Settle, in its MT premier, dives into the muddy ground of domesticity, cultural ideals and family traditions with a dynamic cast of both professional BBD company dancers and Missoula community performers, ranging from 14-54 years old. The show pokes at our cultural motives, both transformative or resisted, and examines female roles within partnership and the home. Oliver’s signature of set and improvised choreography is accentuated with her own video design, original musical composition by Boulder, Colorado’s Jesse Manno, and a domestic backdrop of clotheslines and dish-ware. Part memoir, Settle reveals the cracks in women’s personal facades and the ways we help one another to “clean up the mess”.
