Settle is an evening-length work filled with multi-media and multi-generational dance theatre. Projected video images and original composition by Jesse Manno supports an environment in which the 11 dancers and I explore and unwind the expectations and value systems that have been pressed onto and ingrained within us. Plates become more than simple props, as they represent expectations, traditions, and family values. As the plates slide and break, we attempt to reevaluate the values that they might represent, determining if they can be set aside, or if they are something that’s an essential part of our identity.
